Bishkek, June 21, 2019. /Kabar/. The 69th meeting of the Council of Heads of Customs Services of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) and the 31st meeting of the Joint Board of the Eurasian Customs Union member states were held in Bishkek on June 19 -20, the press service of the State Customs Service of the Kyrgyz Republic reported.
Representatives of the customs services of Kyrgyzstan, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, as well as the CIS Executive Committee took part in the event.
The meetings considered the issues of law enforcement practice of application of the Protocol on Non-Tariff Regulation Measures by the customs authorities of the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) member states, the unified system of transit of goods, electronic declaration, movement of goods, classification of certain types of goods in accordance with the unified Commodity Nomenclature of Foreign Economic Activity of the EEU, the definition and minimization of risks.
Significant attention was also paid to the issues of information interaction between customs services of the EEU member states.
The Council approved the documents aimed at changing the provisions of the Agreement on the procedure of customs clearance and customs control of goods moved between the EAEU member states.
The decisions taken at the meetings are aimed at improving the efficiency of cooperation and practical interaction between the customs services of the EEU and the CIS member states.
The Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) is a regional intergovernmental organization of 10 post-Soviet republics in Eurasia formed following the dissolution of the Soviet Union. It has an estimated population of 239,796,010. The CIS encourages cooperation in economical, political and military affairs and has certain powers to coordinate trade, finance, lawmaking and security. It has also promoted cooperation on cross-border crime prevention.
