Bishkek, June 21, 2019. /Kabar/. Inflow of foreign direct investment in Kyrgyzstan in January-March 2019 has increased by 48.9% and amounted to $176.7 million compared to the same period in 2018.
At the same time, the inflow exceeded the outflow level by $6.9 million, the press service of the National Statistics Committee reported.
The bulk of foreign direct investment (over 92%) in geological prospecting, mining, information and communications, wholesale and retail trade, manufacturing, financial intermediation and insurance increased by an average of about 3.6 times for each indicator. Investments in manufacturing enterprises decreased by 6.0 times.
Foreign direct investment inflows from non-the Commonwealth of Independent states (CIS) countries increased by 1.5 times compared to January-March 2018.
China (69.8 % of total foreign direct investment inflows), the Netherlands (7.6 per cent), the United Kingdom (4.3 per cent), Turkey (3.3 per cent) and Switzerland (3.0 per cent) accounted for the largest share of total foreign direct investment inflows.
The investment from the CIS countries increased by 6.9% compared to January-March 2018 due to the growth of investments from Russia by 1.9 times and from Uzbekistan - by 18.5%. Investments from Kazakhstan decreased by 1.5 times.
Compared to the first quarter of 2018, the investment in Jalal-Abad Oblast increased by 12.5 times, in Bishkek - by 21.0%, while the inflow of investment in other regions decreased.
The outflow of foreign direct investment in January-March 2019 decreased by almost a third compared to January-March 2018 and amounted to $169.8 million.
The structure of foreign direct investment in comparison with the relevant period of 2018 showed a decrease in the outflow of all components, except for reinvested profit.
Outflow of foreign direct investment to non-CIS countries decreased by 24.6 % compared to January-March 2018.
The outflow of foreign direct investment to the CIS countries decreased by 3.3 times due to the reduction of investment outflow to Kazakhstan (by 5.2 times), while their outflow to Russia increased by 14.9%.
Decrease in the outflow of foreign direct investment in comparison with January-March 2018 was observed in Jalal-Abad and Osh oblasts, as well as in Bishkek.
