Bishkek, June 28, 2019. /Kabar/. The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) plans to hold a meeting in Kyrgyzstan next year, Kanat Amankulov, the State Agency for Youth Affairs, Physical Culture and Sports Director told during the press conference at Kabar News Agency.
He said that 50 countries’ sports ministers are expected to participate in the meeting. The aim is to show commitment to clean sport. "To date, their ministries are working actively to counteract the use of illegal drugs by athletes," he said.
"The WADA has written off the debt owed to Kyrgyzstan existed since 2010, and since last year country has been paying contributions to the Association. Our employees have been trained and work directly with this international organization," Amankulov said.
The World Anti-Doping Agency is a foundation initiated by the International Olympic Committee based in Canada to promote, coordinate and monitor the fight against drugs in sports. The agency's key activities include scientific research, education, development of anti-doping capacities, and monitoring of the World Anti-Doping Code, whose provisions are enforced by the UNESCO International Convention against Doping in Sport.
