Trial of ex-mayors: Kulmatov demands severance of proceeding due to "military secret"

AKIPRESS.COM - During the court trial of ex-mayorsof Bishkek Kubanychbek Kulmatov and Albek Ibraimov on July 1, Kulmatov filed a request to sever the process.
Kulmatov complained that a military secret is being voiced in the process.
The application was made after defense lawyer Sergey Slesarev asked Kulmatov about a deal on a purchase of torpedo between Dastan multinational corporation and the Ministry of Defense of India. However, the state lawyer protested and asked the court to lift the question concerning this issue. The attorney noted that the materials are blackout.
Then Kulmatov said that the Indian contract is a military secret that concerns the Defense Ministries of three countries.
"I don't want to hear about torpedos and other issues of the case. Otherwise, I will have travel restrictions for 3 years," Kulmatov noted.
Ibraimov did not agree with Kulmatov and asked the court to continue the process. He said that he was going to make a statement for media.
The court rejected Kulmatov's application.
Former mayors are accused of corruption in construction of a school in Kalys-Ordo residential area, embezzlement inside the Dastan transnational company and corruption in the provision of municipal land.
