Kyrgyz athletes win gold medals at tournament in Azerbaijan

Bishkek, July 1, 2019. /Kabar/. Athletes from Kyrgyzstan have won six medals at international competitions, dedicated to honorary trainer of Azerbaijan Afgan Safarov.
The tournament was held last weekend in Baku. Teams of Belarus, Georgia, Iran, India, Kyrgyzstan and Azerbaijan took part in it, the press service of the State Agency for Youth Affairs, Physical Culture and Sports of Kyrgyzstan reported.
Domestic athletes under the guidance of trainer Andrey Samolov won four gold and two silver medals.
Eva Kadyrova in the 100m run, Ainuska Kalil kyzy in the 1500m and 800m run, Eldiyar Kadyrov (1500m) among men ran first and won the competition.
Cholpon Tazabekova and Kadyrov became silver medalists, both in the 800-meter run.
Afgan Safarov is Azerbaijani athlete. He started his sports activities in the 1930s. He went a long way from a beginner athlete to the champion of the republic, from a rank-and-file coach to the mentor of the national athletics team of the republic, was one of the most respected sports specialists in Azerbaijan and the former Soviet Union.
