Tashkent, July 2, 2019 /Kabar/. The World Bank Board of Directors approved $50 million loan from the International Development Association for the implementation of the Strengthening the social protection system project, the press service of the Bank’s representative in Uzbekistan reported.
The project includes establishment of a unified register of persons entitled for benefits, as well as coverage by social protection programs the poor and socially vulnerable groups, who are negatively affected by rising prices for basic necessities and utilities.
The project will help to improve the state's activities aimed at supporting employment among citizens forced to change jobs as a result of economic transformation in the country.
The Strengthening the social protection system project will enhance the capacity of employment promotion centers to provide better services to jobseekers. It will also improve the availability of data on the labor market situation. For this purpose, an information system will be created under the Ministry of Employment and Labor Relations of Uzbekistan.
The World Bank is supporting Uzbekistan in implementing 23 projects worth more than $4.1 billion, as well as providing analytical and advisory services to the country's government.
