Biskhek, July 4, 2019. /Kabar/. The III Manas international forum, dedicated to the memory of Shoqan Walikhanov took place in Almaty Region, Kazakhstan.
Head of Almaty Region Amandyk Batalov personally met guests from Kyrgyzstan: advisor to President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sultan Rayev, Ambassador of Kyrgyzstan to Kazakhstan Zheenbek Kulubayev, as well as Kyrgyz scientists and public figures.
Head of Almaty Region emphasized that the forum of the Kazakh-Kyrgyz intelligentsia, organized by the Turkic Academy, has become a tradition.
"It is a great honor for us to hold such the event. Kazakh-Kyrgyz history has deep roots. Since ancient times, we have seen the entire history of the brotherly country. During the event, special attention will be paid to the study of the continuity of the epic of Manas, as well as to the study of the contribution of the Kazakh great scientist Shoqan Walikhanov to the formation of the Manasology science. I express my gratitude to all present and participants of the forum," Amandyk Batalov said.
Ambassador Kulubayev noted that this is his first visit to Almaty Region.
"I'm very happy to be here. Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan have longstanding good-neighborly relations, which only grow stronger year by year. In many areas, we can work together, productively and of course mutually beneficially. For example, we can establish new business and cultural relations, exchange experience in the field of education," he said.
Adviser to President Sultan Rayev conveyed the warm wishes of Kyrgyz President. He identified the preservation of the epic of Manas as one of the most important tasks in the era of globalization.
"The article of the first President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev "Seven faces of the great steppe" has become important for the whole Turkic people. It helps to keep national unity, and at the same time oral national creativity, culture of people. Therefore, the "Manas is the great heritage of the Great Steppe" forum bears fundamental importance. The Kyrgyz people will never forget and highly appreciate Shoqan Walikhanov for his significant contribution to the preservation and putting of the epos on paper. I wish that the history of the brotherly peoples would be broadly developed and that friendship would last for centuries," he stressed.
During the meeting, the Manas epic was presented in Latin script.
Patriotic upbringing of the young generation through the promotion of common values and personalities of the Turkic world is the main purpose of the event, organized at the initiative of President of the International Turkic Academy Darkhan Kydyrali.
Shoqan Walikhanov was a Kazakh scholar, ethnographer, historian and participant in The Great Game. He is regarded as the father of modern Kazakh historiography and ethnography.
Nowadays the Manas is a world-famous Kyrgyz epic, which was first recorded in the scientific world by Shoqan Walikhanov, who called it as creation of folk wisdom, an encyclopedic collection of folk tales, myths and legends, geographical and religious notions, customs and traditions; he evaluated Manas as the steppe Iliad.
