AKIPRESS.COM - The Government of Kyrgyzstan decided to join the agreement on the establishment of the Global Green Growth Institute. The Ministry of Economy submitted to the Parliament a draft law on accession of Kyrgyzstan to the Agreement on the Establishment of the Global Institute of Green Growth signed on June 20, 2012 in Rio de Janeiro.
The headquarters of the Global Green Growth Institute is located in Seoul. The organization's Board is chaired by former United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon.
The Global Green Growth Institute is a treaty-based international organization headquartered in Seoul, South Korea. The organization aims to promote green growth, a growth paradigm that is characterized by a balance of economic growth and environmental sustainability. Currently, 28 countries have ratified the agreement to establish the Global Green Growth Institute. The European Union and 18 other countries have submitted a letter of intent to the Director-General formally announcing their intention to join the Global Green Growth Institute. The Institute itself has begun to work with a further 27 countries and regional integration organizations, including the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Russian Federation and Turkmenistan.
