Bishkek, July 8, 2019. /Kabar/. The volume of industrial production in Kyrgyzstan has increased by 17% compared to the last year, Deputy Chairman of the State Committee for Industry, Energy and Subsoil Use of the Kyrgyz Republic Zhyrgalbek Sagynbayev told during the press conference at Kabar News Agency.
He said that, this is due to the growth of production of base metals at the Kumtor mine by 1.6 times, mining of metal ores by 38.2%, coal - by 19.8%, crude oil and natural gas - by 15.5%, textile production - by 8.3%, growth of construction materials - by 3.5%, as well as increased cement production by 9.9%.
Sagynbayev assured that there is growth in all industries.
In January-May of this year industrial entities have manufactured products worth KGS 104 billion 29,1 million- 117%, including KGS 55 billion 129,4 million without Kumtor mining companies.
The Kumtor gold mine is an open-pit gold mining site in Issyk-Kul Oblast of Kyrgyzstan. Located in Tian Shan mountains at more than 4,000 m (14,000 ft) above sea level, Kumtor is the second-highest gold mining operation in the world after Yanacocha gold mine in Peru.
