In pictures: Former US airbase in Manas airport today

AKIPRESS.COM - US troops vacated the airbase in Manas airport 5 years ago on 11 July 2014 after the end of term.
The airbase was operated by the U.S. Air Force for 12 years to support U.S. military operations in war in Afghanistan. The base was a transit point for U.S. military personnel coming and going from Afghanistan.
After the US troops vacated it, the base was used by the National Guard of Kyrgyzstan for other 5 years.
Today, the former airbase territory is empty. The troops of the National Guard left the site in spring 2019 after the internal troops were withdrawn from the structure of the General Staff of the Armed Forces and became the part of the Interior Ministry.
The territory belongs to the Manas airport.

According to the law on the denunciation of the agreement, the Pentagon was obliged to terminate its operations at the Transit Center at Manas before 11 July 2014. Annually, the U.S. military paid $60 million for rental and purchased fuel from Gazprom Neft Aero Kyrgyzstan and others. On February 24, 2014, the fueling mission was completed. On June 3, 2014, the Transit Center had an official ceremony of transferring the Center's property to Kyrgyzstan.
Today, the territory is empty, but is divided into two parts, one of which is used by the Manas airport. The second part is reportedly being readied for hosting the Rocket-aircraft troops. But this information is yet to be confirmed officially.
The territory belonging to the airport is fenced. Priorly, it used to host the objects of the National Guard such as the headquarter, barracks, gym, dining room, etc.
All military equipment has been removed, the buildings today are empty.
