AKIPRESS.COM - A spread of mosquitoes in the city of Nur-Sultan was caused by heavy rains and the subsequent heatwave in the capital, chief sanitary doctor of Kazakhstan Zhandarbek Bekshin reported. According to him, prior to the Day of the city, there was a heavy rain, which washed away the anti-mosquitoe drugs. This affected a number of insects.
The heatwave following heavy rains then contributed to the rapid maturation of the larvae, he noted.
The chief sanitary doctor said other methods of killing mosquitoes should be found in order not to depend on weather conditions.
The city administration is controlling the situation today. Bekshin said that the raid of insects should be carried out everyday. According to him, mosquitoes in Kazakhstan do not transmit dangerous infections and diseases. They can only cause an allergic reaction and create discomfort in everyday life, Bekshin added.
