Food Security and Nutrition Program for 2019-2023 approved in Kyrgyzstan

Bishkek, July 9, 2019. /Kabar/. The Food Security and Nutrition Program for 2019-2023 was approved in Kyrgyzstan. The relevant decision was signed by Prime Minister Mukhammedkalyi Abylgaziev, the Government’s press service reported.
The Program was adopted in order to implement the strategic priorities of sustainable development, to ensure food security of the country and rapid response to internal and external threats to the stability of the domestic food market.
This Program defines the requirements and limitations that need to be integrated into health, education, economic and social sector development programs.
Food security is one of the main directions of ensuring national security of the country, a factor of preservation of its statehood and food independence.
Previously, the issues of food security and nutrition were reflected and implemented within the Program of Food Security and Nutrition of the Kyrgyz Republic for 2015-2017 and the Action Plan for its implementation, approved by Resolution of the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic dated Sep. 4, 2015.
The Council of Food Security and Nutrition of the Kyrgyz Republic decided to develop the Program of Food Security and Nutrition for 2019-2023.
This Program takes into account the goals of the National Development Strategy of the Kyrgyz Republic for 2018-2040, approved by the Decree of President of the Kyrgyz Republic on Oct. 31, 2018, and is directly aimed at the implementation of provisions to ensure food security and quality nutrition.
