World Billiards Championship to be held in Kyrgyzstan

Bishkek, July 9, 2019. /Kabar/. The Free Pyramid World Billiards Championship among men and women, known to many under the unofficial name of American pool, will take place on the shore of Issyk-Kul Lake on August 7-14, 2019, the press service of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) reported.
The event is dedicated to the 5th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty on the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) and the 25th anniversary of the idea of Eurasian integration. The championship is organized by the International Pyramid Confederation and the EEC with the assistance of the Kyrgyz Government.
Director of the Protocol and Organizational Support Department of the EEC Daniyar Turusbekov said that International Pyramid Confederation President Pavel Zavalnyi supported the initiative of Chairman of the EEC Board Tigran Sargsyan to hold the World Championship within the celebration of the EAEU anniversary dates. The Kyrgyz Government approved the idea of organizing the championship on the eve of the EEC Council meetings with the participation of deputy prime ministers and the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council at the level of heads of government of EAEU member states.
"In the course of the competition the world champion and the strongest players in the American pool will be identified," Executive Director, Secretary General of the Pyramid Confederation Yakov Firsov informed. The championship is intended to promote the development and popularization of the pyramid. We expect that thanks to such world tournaments and their wide coverage this game will go beyond the CIS territory. Athletes from more than 20 countries are expected to participate.
Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Russia are member states of the EAEU.
The defending world champion in the free pyramid is one of the world's strongest players, Sergey Kryzhanovsky, the athlete from EAEU observer state Moldova.
