AKIPRESS.COM - Kazakhstan offered on July 9 to host in fall a special event to solve the problems of Afghanistan in Nur-Sultan, New Europe reports.
Kazakh authorities have invited the permanent representatives of states of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) to the Kazakh capital, Kazakhstan's Foreign Minister Beibut Atamkulov said during a meeting with the OSCE Chairman-in-Office - Slovak Foreign Minister Miroslav Lajčák at the OSCE Ministerial Meeting, which was held on July 8-9 in Slovakia.
"The Kazakh side proposed to hold ... an event on Afghanistan in conjunction with the visit of the permanent representatives of states of the OSCE to Kazakhstan," the Kazakh Foreign Ministry said.
The meeting in the Kazakh capital will help increase the involvement of the OSCE in resolving the situation and post-conflict rehabilitation of Afghanistan, the ministry added.
Atamkulov also discussed with Lajčák the initiative of first Kazakhstan President Nursultan Nazarbayev on the "Three Dialogues," that the latter launched in April of this year.
Nazarbayev noted that it is necessary to combine the potentials of the OSCE and the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA) to solve problems in the Eurasian region. A meeting of the secretariats of these two organisations for networking will be held this fall.
Earlier, Nazarbayev proposed the capital of Kazakhstan as a platform for dialogue on the issues of sanctions of the heads of Russia, the United States, China and the European Union. In addition, negotiations on Syria in the Astana format are held on an ongoing basis in the capital of Kazakhstan.
