Bishkek, July 10, 2019. / Kabar /. Representatives of the State Agency for Environmental Protection and Forestry under the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic headed by Director Sabyrbek Chukumbayev, Counselor at the Kyrgyz Embassy in Belarus Ayimkan Kulukeyeva, as well as Director of the Public Fund "Rural Development Fund" Kuluipa Akmatova took part in a seminar of the Global Environmental Fund for Enlarged stakeholders in Europe and Central Asia, the Embassy of the Kyrgyz Republic in Belarus reported.
The purpose of the fund is to improve the living standards of the population in specific territories by solving environmental problems by supporting the implementation of environmental projects in such areas as protecting biological diversity, mitigating climate change, protecting international watercourses, combating soil degradation, deforestation and desertification, and stopping use and disposal persistent organic pollutants.
Current projects of the fund include programs to reduce the negative impact on climate through the promotion of environmentally sound technological solutions and management approaches based on the principles of a green economy at the regional level; the creation and sustainability of an integrated environmental education system on the prevention, mitigation and adaptation to the effects of climate change, and the preservation of the environment; reduction of greenhouse gas emissions due to water heating and many others.
The workshop, organized by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection of the Republic of Belarus, will be held from July 9 to July 12, 2019 in Minsk.
