Kyrgyz, Swiss Presidents discuss promising areas of bilateral cooperation

Bishkek, July 10, 2019. /Kabar/. Kyrgyz President Sooronbay Jeenbekov today, July 10 has met with Swiss President Ueli Maurer as part of his official visit to the Swiss Confederation.
The Presidents discussed the current state and prospects of cooperation in all areas of mutual interest for the countries, the press service of the Kyrgyz President reported.
Welcoming Jeenbekov, Maurer noted that 25 years passed not only in the spirit of mutually beneficial cooperation between the countries, but also in the spirit of mutual friendship.
"We want to sign joint documents of cooperation with the Kyrgyz side and hear the most priority areas that are relevant for you," Maurer said.
The President of Switzerland congratulated Jeenbekov on the positive changes in the country in recent years and noted the ongoing reforms in Kyrgyzstan were not neglected from outside.
"In Kyrgyzstan, much has been done to strengthen the trust of partners, which creates additional preconditions for further development of cooperation. You have reflected in detail all areas in the country's Development Strategy until 2023 and placed emphasis on human resources. We see an active role of young people and their aspiration. This is the main factor that will allow the country to move forward," President Maurer stressed.
The Swiss President expressed readiness for further deepening of cooperation in the format of mutually beneficial partnership.
Kyrgyz President Jeenbekov noted that bilateral cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and Switzerland has been developing steadily over the years. The political dialogue is at a high level.
Jeenbekov noted with satisfaction that Switzerland is currently implementing projects in Kyrgyzstan in the areas of health care, economic development, public administration, agriculture, energy, water resources and climate.
He stressed that the development and promotion of exports, the creation of conditions for small and medium-sized businesses, the development of public-private partnerships are the most relevant areas.
"Kyrgyzstan has good export potential in sectors such as clothing and agriculture. It is well known that consumer demand for healthy and quality food is growing worldwide. We are ready to supply organic vegetables, fruit, nuts, honey and beans to the Swiss market. In this regard, we believe that cooperation in the agro-industrial sector can be mutually beneficial for both sides," Jeenbekov said.
The sides highlighted the development of cooperation in the sphere of tourism, taking into account the natural possibilities of the two countries, and expressed confidence in the intensification and continuation of bilateral cooperation.
In the framework of the official visit, Jeenbekov will meet with Chairwoman of the National Council of the Federal Assembly Marina Carobbio Guscetti and Chairman of the National Bank Thomas Jordan.
A number of documents are expected to be signed in the sphere of economy, finance, tourism, and drinking water supply to the regions of the country.
The head of state will also meet with representatives of big business in Switzerland with the participation of entrepreneurs from Kyrgyzstan.
