Bishkek, July 11, 2019. / Kabar The groundhog hunting season has been opened in Kyrgyzstan. The corresponding order was signed by Director of the State Agency for Environmental Protection and Forestry under the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic (SAEPF) Abdykalyk Rustamov, the press service of the agency reported.
According to the order of the head of the State Agency for Environmental Protection and Forestry, the terms of the hunting season for the extraction of the woodchuck will last from July 6 to September 1, 2019.
The event is held in order to rational use of resources of the groundhog, its protection, reproduction and streamlining of the production in the territory of Kyrgyzstan.
There are three species of marmot inhabit the territory of the Kyrgyz Republic: gray marmot, red marmot and Menzbir marmot listed in the Red Book.
Currently, the number of marmots living in Kyrgyzstan is 345 thousand 554 heads.
