Energy Ministry says causes of power cutoff in Almaty being determined

AKIPRESS.COM - The biggest city of Kazakhstan today experienced a blackout. The Ministry of Energy said the causes are being established.
The energy authorities said the power will be restored in the city until 5:00 pm.
"A power cutoff occurred in Almaty today at 2:30 pm Nur-Sultan time. This influenced the energy syatem of southern region, in particular, the power generation of CHPP-2 and CHPP-3 and the work of the Kapshagay Hydroelectric Power Plant. The reasons for outage are being determined. All restoration works started and will be completed soon," spokesman of the Ministry Nurlybek Jenisbek wrote on Facebook.
The reports on power cutoff appeared on July 15 at 2:14 pm Almaty time. Some technical failure occurred in the CHPP-2, which led to the blackout in most parts of the city.
A special working group is checking reasons now.
