Kyrgyz Government, Swiss Federal Council sign MoU

Bishkek, July 16, 2019. ./Kabar/. Within the framework of the visit of President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sooronbay Jeenbekov to Switzerland, Minister of Economy of Kyrgyzstan Sanjar Mukanbetov signed the Memorandum of Understanding between the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Federal Council of Switzerland on the Economic Development Project "Enhancing market access for small and medium-sized enterprises by strengthening their capacity to comply with standards in fruit value chains".
The press service of the Government reported that, the objective of the project is to increase national competitiveness through the development of fruit value chains in line with quality requirements and standards in order to strengthen the national quality infrastructure.
The project will focus on achieving three results, thereby responding to the main challenges in the area of standards faced by the country.
First outcome: Strengthening of technical competence and sustainability of the National quality infrastructure system in fruit value chains development.
Second outcome: Strengthening the capacity of subjects of small and medium-sized business to comply with international standards and technical regulations covering the fruit value chains.
Third outcome: Raising awareness of quality issues along the fruit value chains.
The Swiss Federal Council is committed to provide the Project with a maximum amount of USD 968 thousand 180 as a non-refundable contribution for the period 2019-2022.
