Bishkek, July 17, 2019. /Kabar/. South Korean Prime Minister Lee Nak-yon's first official visit to Kyrgyzstan brings the Kyrgyz-Korean relations to a new level, Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan Mukhammedkalyi Abylgaziev said at the Kyrgyzstan-South Korea Business Forum.
The Forum is organized within the framework of the Korean prime minister’s first visit to Kyrgyzstan.
Prime Minister Abylgaziev noted that today's historic event is intended to strengthen bilateral relations between the countries. "I am confident that your official visit will open a wide path to cooperation. Today, Korea is one of the leading countries in the world in economic terms. Kyrgyzstan considers Korea one of its close partners in Asia," the prime minister said.
He said that, in 2018, the volume of trade turnover between the two countries amounted to USD 30 million, but both countries do not use the existing economic potential in full.
"We have every opportunity to enhance Kyrgyz-Korean trade and economic relations. To date, more than 1,000 enterprises with Korean capital operate in Kyrgyzstan. These are companies that work in the spheres of education, health care, social services, agriculture, mining, processing, construction and trade," Abylgaziev said.
The Kyrgyz prime minister noted that the participation of the Korean prime minister in this Business Forum brings together the Kyrgyz-Korean relations and increases mutual trust by one more step. Korea's business is at the forefront of the world, which uses the latest modern technologies. For this reason, the Kyrgyz side calls on Korean companies to consider Kyrgyzstan as one of the priority countries for investment. Kyrgyzstan has everything for this purpose. For example, Kyrgyzstan has the status of GSP+ within the European Union, which allows for the unimpeded sending to Europe of more than 60 items of products. Kyrgyzstan has also created the best conditions for doing business and built a liberal tax regime.
"As the prime minister of Kyrgyzstan, I will take personal control of creating all the conditions for Korean entrepreneurs to do business," he said.
Prime Minister of the Republic of Korea Lee Nak-eon has arrived in Kyrgyzstan for an official visit.
The Korean prime minister will meet with President of Kyrgyzstan Sooronbay Jeenbekov.
Following the official visit, a number of bilateral documents are planned to be signed.
