AKIPRESS.COM - The Alamedin district court of Bishkek rejected the request of the State Penitentiary Service of Kyrgyzstan on amnesty to Sadyr Japarov, the Service reported on July 17. The petition was applied 2 months ago. The pardon was denied on July 16.
Japarov was arrested on March 25, 2017 on suspicion of the organization of violent protests in October 2013 in the Issyk-Kul region.
He was handed 11.6 years in prison by Pervomay district court of Bishkek on August 2, 2017 for murder attempt, coup attempt, hooliganism and taking former governor of Issyk-Kul region Emil Kaptagayev hostage. Bishkek city court and Supreme Court upheld the sentence.
The prison term was shortened from 11 years and 6 months to 10 years in prison.
