Lee Nak-yon: South Korea appreciates contribution of Kyrgyzstan to strengthening regional cooperation

Bishkek, July 18, 2019 / Kabar /. "We highly appreciate the contribution that Kyrgyzstan is making to strengthening regional cooperation," Prime Minister of South Korea Lee Nak-yon said today at a bilateral meeting with Prime Minister Mukhammedkalyi Abylgaziev in an expanded format.
He said that diplomatic relations with Kyrgyzstan were established in 1992. "I wanted this visit to take place much earlier, but despite this, I am confident that the visit will help speed up bilateral relations, and the Korean side will make every effort to do this," he said.
Lee Nak-yon expressed respect for the leadership of Kyrgyzstan in achieving democracy and promoting state values. "We also highly appreciate the contribution made by the Kyrgyz side to strengthening regional cooperation within the framework of the SCO and the EAEU," he stressed.
The South Korean PM said that last month Kyrgyzstan successfully held the SCO Summit, and he highly appreciates the contribution of the Kyrgyz Republic to strengthening regional cooperation.
"The Government of the Republic of Korea is strengthening cooperation with Eurasia and the Central Asian countries and in order to intensify such interaction, we are promoting a new northern policy. Now Kyrgyzstan is also actively promoting the National Development Strategy. And I hope that two such main directions of the policy of our states and governments will in harmony contribute to the strengthening of bilateral relations," said Lee Nak-yon.
