Uzbekistan's GDP grows by 5.8% in H1 2019

Tashkent, July 19, 2019. /Kabar/. Uzbekistan's GDP in the first half of the year grew by 5.8% compared to the same period in 2018, First Deputy Minister of Economy and Industry Ravshan Gulyamov said during the first meeting of the Economic Council on the implementation of the road map of the main directions of structural reforms in Uzbekistan in 2019-2021.
According to his data, GDP growth in the first half of the year amounted to 5.8% per annum, which is higher than predictions, and inflation in Uzbekistan's consumer market was 5.6%.
"The current monetary policy shows that everything is under control," Ravshan Gulyamov said.
In early March, the International Monetary Fund reported on the forecast of GDP growth in Uzbekistan in 2019 at the level of 5.5% due to the inflow of investment into the country. According to the Fund's experts, inflation in Uzbekistan in 2019 will remain at last year's level of 15%.
Earlier, the Uzbek Government announced GDP growth in 2018 by 5.1%, in 2019 the economy is expected to grow by 5.4% and inflation by 15.5%.
