Bishkek, July 19, 2019 / Kabar /. President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sooronbay Jeenbekov met with native of Kyrgyzstan - Honored Master of Sports of the USSR, Olympic champion in long jumps Tatyana Kolpakova, the Kyrgyz President’s press service reported.
The head of state expressed appreciation for her regular visit to Kyrgyzstan, as well as participation in the traditional international athletics tournament for the prizes of Olympic champion Tatyana Kolpakova.
Sooronbay Jeenbekov stressed that the holding of the international tournament of the same name, which has been held annually since 1997, is evidence of Tatiana Kolpakova’s outstanding sporting achievements.
The head of state expressed deep appreciation for the contribution to the development of the country's athletics, the promotion of a healthy lifestyle and the transfer of sports experience to young Russian athletes. He added that Tatyana Kolpakova’s sporting achievements motivate young people to achieve high results.
Sooronbay Jeenbekov wished Tatyana Kolpakova good health, well-being and handed her a nominal watch of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic for her great contribution to the development of physical culture and sports in the country.
Olympic champion Tatyana Kolpakova stressed that she always speaks warmly in her heart and recalls her native Kyrgyzstan, where she grew up and the years of her development as a professional athlete passed.
Sooronbay Jeenbekov and Tatyana Kolpakova positively assessed the achievements and successes of the country's young athletes and exchanged views on measures for the further development and involvement of young people in this sport.
In 2019 about 200 athletes from Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kazakhstan and India took part in the tournament for the prizes of Tatyana Kolpakova.
