Tashkent, July 19, 2019. /Kabar/. President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev on July 18 signed an amended law "On tourism", UzA news agency reported.
The Law introduces new concepts such as "instructor-guide", "independent tourism", forms and types of tourism. The document defines the main directions of the state policy in the sphere of tourism. Among them are development of this sphere as a strategic branch of the country's economy, creation of necessary conditions for development of domestic tourism, attraction of investments, improvement of the image of Uzbekistan as an attractive country for tourism, stimulation of development of tourist zones and tourist clusters.
The Law approves the establishment of the Coordination Council on tourism development for "improvement of interaction of public authorities, non-governmental non-profit organizations, tourism subjects on creation of favorable conditions for sustainable development of tourism".
The Law includes norms about tourist information center, tourist zones and clusters, certification of qualification of guides (guides-translators), guides, unified registers in the sphere of tourism, national tourist brand of Uzbekistan and others.
The document was adopted by the Legislative Chamber on 16 April and approved by the Senate on 21 June. The previous version was adopted in 1999 and included 22 articles, while the new law contains 45 articles.
The document will come into force after three months from the date of publication.
