421 prisoners won't be pardoned in Kyrgyzstan

AKIPRESS.COM - Amnesty will not be applied to 421 prisoners, Chairman of the Public Council of the State Penitentiary Service of Kyrgyzstan Cholpon Omurkanova told a press conference today.
According to her, the courts received cases of 8,590 convicts for reconsideration of probes since the beginning of 2019. 7,092 of them were reconsidered and 570 people were transferred from detention centers to the penal colonies.
"421 people will have to serve some portion of their sentence. We are looking forward to hear the decision on amnesty from the Supreme Court concerning these convicts," she said.
421 convicts earlier had already fell under amnesty from the prosecutor's office, Omurkanova noted.
The courts upheld the sentences for 3,100 convicts and rejected revision of 721 cases.
