Bishkek, July 22, 2019. /Kabar/. Deputy Prime Ministers of Kyrgyzstan Zamirbek Askarov and Armenia Tigran Avinyan discussed current issues of cooperation between the two countries within the framework of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) and the United Nations (UN), the press service of the Kyrgyz Government reported.
The sides noted the presence of significant potential in the field of cooperation in such areas as the process of digitalization of the economy and development of IT-technologies, implementation of joint projects in various sectors of the economy to increase trade and economic cooperation within the EAEU.
The meeting participants highlighted the importance of continuing the development of intergovernmental and inter-parliamentary cooperation between the two countries, the need of developing cooperation between the regions of the two countries and exchanging information and experience on the ongoing reforms in different sectors of the economy and improving the investment attractiveness.
Askarov wished Armenia success in holding the session of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council to be held in October 2019, and expressed hope for the intensification of the activities in the areas of mutual interest as part of the bilateral Intergovernmental commission.
Note, that the meeting was held in New York (USA) within the framework of the High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF) under the auspices of the UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC).
The Forum meets annually for eight days, including a three-day ministerial segment; the Forum also comes together every four years at the level of Heads of State and Government for two days under the auspices of the General Assembly.
