AKIPRESS.COM - Around 300 citizens were evacuated from the Kyrgyz-Tajik border conflict zone, Turmush reports. Aksai villagers have been placed at a technical college and a school. They are provided medical assistance.
The State Border Service of Kyrgyzstan said the situation is relatively stable.
The conflict occurred at 5.20 pm on July 22 between citizens of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan. Tajik citizens decided to put up a flagpole at the entry to the village. Aksai villagers opposed. The exchange of heated arguments resulted in use of firearms by one of the sides. The shots were fired by civilians from a shotgun. Five were wounded.
Border guards of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan are undertaking actions to prevent further escalation of the situation.
