4 Uzbek cities to host Cultural Heritage Week

Tashkent, July 23, 2019. /Kabar/. At the initiative of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, four cities of Uzbekistan - Tashkent, Termez, Samarkand and Bukhara will host the "Uzbekistan at the crossroads of civilizations" forum, dedicated to the sensational results of 40 years of research of Alexandria on the Oxus, Deputy Prime Minister Aziz Abdukhakimov told during the press conference in Tashkent on Monday.
According to the data of the Uzbek researchers led by Academician Edward Rtveladze, the ancient Alexandria on the Oxus was on the site of today's Kampyrtepa. For many years, scientific circles have been arguing about where Alexandria on the Oxus (ancient Termez, Ayrtam or Kampyrtepa) was located.
It is expected that at the forum, as part of the Cultural Heritage Week, representatives of the scientific community and the media will be presented with evidence that Alexandria on the Oxus is located on the site of the Kampyrtepa, which was marked in the manuscripts of ancient Greek historian and geographer Ptolemy and is a unique monument of the Central Asian Hellenic culture.
Note, that UNESCO Director General Audrey Azoley and Organization’s experts, scientists and researchers will attend the event and take part in the conference, dedicated to the preservation of tangible and intangible cultural heritage, current problems and their solutions. This event is important for the preservation of cultural heritage sites.
