Uzbek entrepreneur sets official on fire for attempt to demolish his store

AKIPRESS.COM - An entrepreneur in Kashkadarya region poured petroleum on the district vice governor and set him on fire after the vice governor attempted to demolish his store and a sewing workshop. The incident happened on July 20 in presence of hundreds of witnesses, CA-News reports.
The entrepreneur asked the vice governor accompanied by police officers not to demolish his store, since he has not received a compensation it and has to repay a loan to the bank. However, the vice governor ignored the request.
The fire was extinguished, the official was taken to a hospital. The man and his wife were taken to police. The official reportedly has not received serious injuries.

Thousands of buildings are being demolished across the country. In many cases people and entrepreneurs lose their properties without receiving a proper compensations for their property.
The Human Rights Watch said construction of new buildings has led to the massive and gross human rights violations during tenure of Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
A group of civil society activists opposing demolishing has called the process ‘a humanitarian catastrophe'.
