Ex-President Atambayev says he may leave Kyrgyzstan before noon

AKIPRESS.COM - Ex-President Almazbek Atambayev plans to depart in the first half of July 24, he told reporters yesterday. "Hopefully, before the noon," he said.
When asked from where he will fly, Atambayev said the host side is to decide this. But he said he can be seen off tomorrow.
He has not specified what issues will be discussed during the talks.
Atambayev was summoned for questioning for July 19 for the third time. All three summons were ignored by him. His attorney Sergei Slesarev said ex-President Atambayev still has immunity for prosecution and can be summoned for questioning in any capacity.
The interrogation is linked to the case of illegal freeing of crime boss Aziz Batukayev from prison.
On June 27, Parliament of Kyrgyzstan voted for stripping Almazbek Atambayev of his immunity.
Atambayev was accused of illegal freeing of crime boss Aziz Batukayev from prison, concealment of income, illegal land purchase, corruption in the modernization of the Bishkek power plant and the illegal supply of coal to the power plant. The General Prosecutor's office backed the accusations partially.
Atambayev slammed the parliament and said accusations against him are "completely absurd, have no legal ground and are based on rumors." He said he will resist his arrest.
