Bishkek, July 23, 2019. /Kabar/. Deputy Prime Ministers of Kyrgyzstan Jenish Razakov and Tajikistan Azim Ibrohim held talks on the incident at the Kyrgyz-Tajik border section.
The press service of the Kyrgyz Government reported, that the sides decided to conduct a joint investigation into the incident. In addition, they agreed to carry out joint patrolling, as well as to continue to conduct outreach to the local population of the two countries.
Local authorities continue to monitor and control the situation.
Another conflict occurred on the Kyrgyz-Tajik border on 22 July. Residents of the Tajik village of Vorukh, Isfara District, wanted to set up flagpoles at the site where the Kyrgyz village of Aksai had previously been written.
This outraged Kyrgyz citizens. Both sides started throwing stones at each other and shooting with firearms. As a result, 14 people were injured. The victims included police and border guards. Representatives of both sides went to the scene of the incident.
The press service of the Kyrgyz State Border Service said that, yesterday, July 23 in the course of explanatory work with the population of the border area, which was attended by Chairman of the Kyrgyz State Border Service Ularbek Sharsheyev, Governor of Batken Oblast Akram Madumarov, two single shots were fired from the Tajik side in the direction of citizens of Kyrgyzstan.
As a result, a member of the Kyrgyz State Border Service was wounded. Border units in this section of the state border were switched to a reinforced regime.
