AKIPRESS.COM - President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev ordered to toughen penalty for poaching in the country, Zakon.kz reports.
Such instruction came after one of the two inspectors in Akmolin region was killed in fighting against poachers. He died of a gunshot.
"I sincerely express condolences to relatives of Kanysh Nurtazinov, who heroically died in fighting against poachers. They will be arrested and handed over to the court. The penalty for shooting saigas should be toughened. Nurtazinov will be awarded. I wish a speedy recovery to another inspector S. Ospanov," the head of state wrote on Twitter.
The two inspectors on July 23 received deadly gunshots while attempting to detain poachers and prevent killing saigas. Later, one of them died before arrival of doctors. The second inspector was delivered to the hospital. His condition is severely stable now.
