AKIPRESS.COM - Indonesia's РТ Trans Asia Resources plans to supply up to 1 million tons of petroleum products to Afghanistan from the Ferghana oil refinery since 2020, PrimeTime reports. In early April, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed the order on modernization of the Ferghana oil refinery using investments of the РТ Trans Asia Resources.
Trans Asia Resources signed the agreement on delivery of up to 1 million ton of petroleum products with Afghan authorities. The document was signed at the first meeting of Uzbekistan-Afghanstan intergovernmental commission for trade and economic cooperation on July 17 in Tashkent.
Deliveries of fuel may start in 2020 after sining of contracts with commercial structure of Afghanistan. In future, the company may export petroleum to Tajikistan in Kyrgyzstan.
The Ferghana oil refinery was launched into operation in 1959 and produces around 60 kinds of petroleum products up to date. The refinery can process 5.5 million tons of oil a year. Modernization of the refinery will last until 2022 and is estimated at $875 million. The Indonesian company plans to set up a consortium of international companies for further operation of the refinery.
