Bishkek, July 24, 2019. /Kabar/. "We have started to actively use internal resources to stimulate the domestic economy," Mukhammedkalyi Abylgaziev, the Kyrgyz Prime Minister said during the regular session of the Government.
"Today's session will focus on the most pressing issues on the internal agenda. For the Government, 2019 is a year of taking concrete steps to stabilize the macroeconomics and improve the situation in the social sector. I would like to note that President and the Parliament of the Kyrgyz Republic provide great support to the Government in addressing the most pressing issues. I think that the first half of 2019 was remembered for the social and political events and a number of international events," said Abylgaziev, the Government’s press service reported.
The prime minister noted that over this period more than 10 international high-level events had been held in the country, within the framework of which agreements and business contracts had been signed with Russia worth USD 6.2 billion, with China $ 7.6 billion and South Korea worth USD 145 million.
"I would like to draw attention to a number of important facts in the social and economic development of the country. Despite some negative changes in the world, the impact of the external crisis, we have managed to achieve positive macroeconomic indicators. We have started to actively use domestic resources to stimulate the economy," PM Abylgaziev said.
Abylgaziev focused on macroeconomic indicators and noted that the GDP of the country amounted to KGS 232.5 billion - an increase of 6.4%.
"Excluding Kumtor gold mining company, growth made 2.1%, with economic growth in all sectors of the economy. In total, industrial enterprises produced products worth KGS 127.5 billion. I would like to note that while supporting domestic production, we are switching to the use of domestic resources. Thus, we form the basis for a competitive economy. 108 enterprises have been launched, 25.2 thousand jobs have been created. Of these, 23.5 thousand jobs have been created in the private sector. The industry sector has created 2,820 jobs, while the food and processing sectors have created 1,278 new jobs," Abylgaziev said.
This year, a number of new enterprises were opened: OASIS-AGRO for the production of mineral fertilizers (EUR 250 thousand) in Osh, the Ilix paper mill (KGS 70 million) in Osh Oblast, Sulukta mine construction coal deposit (KGS 103.5 million), the Birch paper mill in Shopokov (KGS 220 million), Kyrgyz Textile LTD (USD $70 million) in Osh, Kulbros enterprise with 250 jobs (USD $5 million), and TMAI with 700 jobs (USD $40 million).
