Bishkek, July 26, 2019. /Kabar/. "The situation at the border in Batken Oblast is under my personal control," President of Kyrgyzstan Sooronbay Jeenbekov said at the meeting with Batken Oblast resident in Aksai village.
The head of state met with the Aksai village residents on his way to Isfara, Tajikistan, his press service reported.
The President reminded that appropriate instructions have been given to law enforcement agencies, the Armed Forces, heads of all ministries and departments.
"To date, thanks to the measures taken jointly with the Tajik side, the situation has stabilized. Additional forces from the internal affairs agencies and the State Border Service have been sent to the border. The border will be completely under our control," Jeenbekov said.
The Kyrgyz leader said that residents’ security and the interests of the state will be to the fore, and Kyrgyzstan’s leadership constantly negotiate with leadership of Tajikistan.
He noted yesterday’s working meeting with the participation of Parliament speaker, prime minister and heads of some public authorities resulted in decision to start the construction of social and infrastructure facilities in the near future.
He stressed that the construction of the buildings of the fire-fighting and rescue services will be completed in August this year, and the residents of the border villages to be provided with a new ambulance within two weeks.
Besides, the destroyed bridge in the village of Aksai will be fully restored and construction of a new pumping station to provide clean water begins. Measures will be taken to provide irrigation water to the border areas.
"Social issues will be resolved. Most importantly, I urge all of you not to go for provocateurs. We should strive to preserve and strengthen good relations with the neighboring country," Jeenbekov emphasized and expressed gratitude to the local residents, who came to the meeting for their understanding of the situation.
The President also listened to the opinions of local residents regarding border issues.
After the meeting with local residents in the village of Aksai, Sooronbay Jeenbekov headed to Tajikistan's Isfara border town to meet with President Emomali Rahmon.
