Police hardly resume movement on state highway after protest in Almaty region

AKIPRESS.COM - Residents of the village of Baktybai in Almaty region blocked the state road on July 28, Sputnik Kazakhstan reported. More than a dozens of protesters were complaining on the quality of repair of the Almaty - Ust-Kamenegorsk road, which passes through the village. A footage of demostrators appeared on social media.
Police said such protests occur often.
The villagers say the highway is built very close to their houses. They believe this will cause them a lot of troubles, for example, flooding or road accidents.
The protesters then met with local authorities. What decision was made as a result of the meeting is unknown yet. Police officers hava hardly resumed the traffic movement.
