Bishkek, July 31, 2019. /Kabar/. The Education Department held the 1st meeting of the working group to prepare Bishkek for participation in the Child Friendly City contest, the press service of the Bishkek Mayor’s Office said.
The working group includes employees of the municipality, representatives of health care facilities, social protection, education, culture, sports and the Department of Economics and Investment, as well as representatives of all the capital's akimiats (regional executive bodies).
The working group should prepare a final report on the situation of children and young people in the capital and submit it to the competition committee by February 2020.
18 cities of the country will claim the title of the friendliest city. All of them are included in the 2018-2022 concept of regional policy as growth points - actively developing cities with maximum potential in attracting domestic and foreign investment.
In total, there are 26 indicators related to the well-being of children and young people in the selection criteria: access to education, health services, safety, etc.
The prize for the 1st place is KGS 3 million, for the 2nd place – KGS 2 million, for the 3rd place – KGS 1 million, and the contest’s total prize fund is KGS 6 million. Another main condition of the prize is the commitment of the cities to spend them on long-term projects to improve the living conditions of children and youth.
The State Agency for Youth Affairs, Physical Culture and Sports of the Kyrgyz Republic is the Secretariat of the contest.
