Bishkek, July 31, 2019. /Kabar/. Antibiotics in Kyrgyzstan will be prescribed only by electronic prescriptions, Nazira Artykova, the World Health Organization in Kyrgyzstan head told during the press conference at Kabar News Agency.
She said the introduction of a new electronic system for the prescription of antibiotics, above all, will prevent the uncontrolled use of antibiotics. "As everyone knows, we are fighting against antimicrobial resistance together with the UN food program. Uncontrolled prescription of antibiotics causes antimicrobial resistance in humans and later other antibiotics become ineffective. The most important thing is that antibiotics will be under control and it is also economical for the patient and the healthcare system," Artykova said.
The system will be introduced in 2020 by a pilot project and after testing throughout the country.
Compulsory Health Insurance Fund (CHIF) Head Elnura Boronbayeva said the system is implemented within the framework of the component of the National Database of Medicines and Medical Products.
"Patient to whom the doctor prescribed antibiotics will have to provide pharmacist with a biometric passport, where the chip contains full information about doctor, who wrote the prescription, time and dose of antibiotics he prescribed. Patient will get medication only through this system," Boronbayeva concluded.
