Constitutional Chamber should make final decision on lawfulness of interrogation, Atambayev says

AKIPRESS.COM - The Constitutional Chamber should put an end to controversy on lawfulness of interrogation, ex-President Almazbek Atambayev said in response to the statement made by President Sooronbai Jeenbekovthat Atambayev's case should be addressed in line with the law. The Interior Ministry of Kyrgyzstan handed in the summon for Atambayev's questioning, however his representatives filed a claim to the Constitutional Chamber seeking to recognize ex-president status stripping unlawful.
Atambayev said the Constitutional Chamber could consider the matter not in December as announced, but any near time in view of the situation. Atambayev said his attorney Slesarev visited the Interior Ministry, where he met leaders and suggested to reach compromise in order not to undermine investigation.
The Constitutional Chamber should decide who is right - Atambayev and his representatives or the Interior Ministry. "Or the second option, representatives of the Interior Ministry could seat to the table with our lawyers in order to find the way to cooperate with investigation in line with the law," Atambayev suggested.
When asked about the video on occasion of the 70th anniversary of Kurmanbek Bakiyev, Atambayev said rehabilitation of the Bakievs has started despite all murders that happened.
"Rehabilitation of this bloody regime starts. It means it is okay to kill people for power. I think it is a natural thing today, since when the leader says he puts interests of people above interests of a group of people, we see that they have put interests of a group of people above interests of all people of Kyrgyzstan," Almazbek Atambayev stated.
