AKIPRESS.COM - The 14th round of the Syrian peace talks within the Astana process will be held in October 2019, Director of the Department Asia and Africa of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan Erzhan Mukash said, Sputnik Kazakhstan reports.
"The next round, possibly, will be held on the same days in October," he told reporters.
The Syrian peace process on August 1-2 was attended by both sides of the conflict in Syria - the governmental delegation, which is headed by Permanent Representative of the Syrian Arab Republic to the United Nations Bashar Jaafari and the armed opposition led by Ahmad al-Touma.
Among guarantor states, the delegation of Russia was led by President's Special Envoy to Syria Alexander Lavrentiev. Turkey was represented by First Deputy Foreign Minister Sedat Onal. The Iranian delegation was headed by Senior Assistant Foreign Minister of Iran on Political Issues Ali Asghar Haji.
The UN Secretary-General's Syria envoy, Geir Pedersen, did not participate in the talks due to health problems. The delegation was led by his assistant.
The delegations of Iraq and Lebanon attended the event as observes for the first time.
