Bishkek, Aug.2, 2019. /Kabar/. Ambassador of Kyrgyzstan to Japan Mirlan Arstanbayev met with Hiroshi Shimo, the Wakayama Prefecture Vice Governor. During the meeting, the sides discussed the prospects of cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and this prefecture, the press service of the Kyrgyz Foreign Ministry reported.
Arstanbayev noted the Kyrgyz side is interested in cooperation in three areas for which Wakayama is famous: food industry, pharmaceutical industry and chemical industry. He said that at present the Kyrgyz Republic produces organic agricultural products, the export of which raises the issue of certification. In this regard, he expressed opinion on the relevance of cooperation with the laboratories of Wakayama Prefecture.
Vice-Governor Shimo informed now there are advanced laboratories and research centers in the prefecture. He told about the activities of the Industrial Technology Center of Wakayama Prefecture (WINTEC).
The Kyrgyz ambassador also met with Wakayama Parliament Speaker Takeshi Kishimoto and Vice Speaker Reiko Mori. During the meeting the sides noted the importance of deepening contacts between the regions of Kyrgyzstan and Wakayama. In this context, Ambassador Arstanbayev invited local parliamentarians to visit Kyrgyzstan. The parties agreed to continue consultations on this issue.
On the same day, Arstanbayev visited the WINTEC and got acquainted with its activities, which are engaged in providing support to local enterprises. In particular, the center renders assistance in the design of new technologies for the production of certain types of products.
After that the ambassador visited the Souhonke Surugaya Company’s confectionery. After familiarization with its activities, the sides agreed on the need for consultations on the supply of Kyrgyz honey for the production, manufactured by this company.
Wakayama Prefecture is a prefecture of Japan on the Kii Peninsula in the Kansai region on Honshū Island. The capital is the city of Wakayama, the prefecture has friendship and sister relationships with six places outside Japan.
