AKIPRESS.COM - A group of residents of Naryn district protested against the Chinese mining company on August 5 and demanded to withdraw heavy-duty machinery from the deposit.
Naryn region governor Amanbai Kayipov arrived on the scene.
Police arrived on the scene to prevent arousing conflict between locals and Chinese workers. According to preliminary reports, the workers started throwing rocks first, and then the Naryn residents started fighting back.
As of 10 pm August 5, workers and machinery vacated the deposit. As a result of throwing rocks, special equipment and cars were damaged, the statement said.
In 2012, the Zhong Ji Mining Company received a license from the State Committee for Industry, Energy and Subsoil Use to explore and develop the Salton-Sary field. The company received a lease of the land plot until 2030.
The Solton-Sary gold reserves are estimated at 12 tons. The company has two licenses - for geological exploration of 1500 hectares of land and mining of 44 hectares of land.
