Convicted transgender claims being raped in colony of Almaty

AKIPRESS.COM - Transgender Victoria Berkhodzhayeva claims she had been raped in the colony, where she is serving her sentence for extortion.
Her case was discussed at the conference with participation of the first deputy chairman of the Criminal Executive Committee Tengizzhan Zhanibekov, Zakon.kz reports.
"Now I don't remember the exact date, it was July. She appealed to police call center and complained about sexual harassments in the colony. We can not provide any details on this fact citing the ongoing investigation," Zhanibekov noted.
According to him, the case is under the control today. Berkhodzhayeva has been taken out of the colony to remand prison for safety.
The transgender woman on July 26 reported about raping in the colony of Almaty region. She is claiming that she was raped by an employee of the colony. Investigation is underway.
Berkhodzhayeva, who was a man before, is accused of extortion. She did not plead guilty but she was found guilty and sentenced to 7 years.
