AKIPRESS.COM - President of Belarus Alexandr Lukashenko met with fugitive president of Kyrgyzstan Kurmanbek Bakiyev to wish him 70th birthday regards at the Independence Palace, Minsk.
Lukashenko presented to Bakiyev, who was sentenced to life in prison in absentia, a painting depicting eagle hunting of nomads, to which Bakiyev said "It's my country... horses, eagles."
"Yes, your country and your passion. That bird, proud as you, looks like you," Lukashenkov said.
Lukashenko also asked Bakiyev to cook Kyrgyz plov, to which Bakiyev said he will.
Lukashenko and Bakiyev were also reported to stand by hologram flags of Belarus and Kyrgyzstan.
Bakiyev was sentenced in absentia for various charges, including mass shooting of protesters at the April 7, 2010 revolution. After ouster, he fled Kyrgyzstan to Belarus and received Belarusian citizenship.
