AKIPRESS.COM - New sanctions of the United States against Russia and a trade war with China might impact the economy of Kazakhstan, according to experts' opinions, LS reports.
Russian Analyst Alexey Kalachev believes that the U.S. sanctions against Russia have only indirect and insignificant impact on Kazakhstan's economy.
"Much more damage to the economy of our countries that depend on the export of commodities is caused by a new aggravation of the U.S.-China trade war. Trade restrictions can potentially reduce the demand for raw materials from China , which is the main foreign economic partner of both Russia and Kazakhstan," he noted.
Kalachev said that the anti-Russian sanctions may lead to decrease of trade between Russia and Kazakhstan.
Deputy Director of the Research Center in Applied Economics and author of the Tengenomika Olzhas Tuluyev says it is too early to predict any direct negative impact of anti-Russian sanctions on the economy of Kazakhstan and the exchange rate of tenge.
He also thinks that the currency situation may be influenced by deterioration of relations between the U.S. and China and the further escalation of sanctions policy against Russia.
Another analyst Andrey Kochetkov said the last sanctions will not bring any significant impact on Russia and Kazakhstan.
Chinese refusal from import of the U.S. products might on contrary open new opportunities for suppliers in neighbor countries.
Expert Andrey Chebotarev said the sanctions might create pressure on the exchange rate of ruble and tenge.a
