Bishkek, Aug.8, 2019 /Kabar/. Pre-trial proceedings on the facts of the mass riots in Koi-Tash village have been commenced.
The press service of the General Prosecutor Office of the Kyrgyz Republic said that within the framework of pre-trial proceedings on the fact of involvement of Kyrgyzstan’s Former President Almazbek Atambayev in the illegal release of kingpin Aziz Batukayev, Atambayev was summoned for questioning three times as a witness in the Kyrgyz Ministry of Internal Affairs, but the legitimate demands of the investigation bodies were ignored.
In this connection, the investigator issued a resolution on the forced detention of Atambayev, the execution of which was entrusted to the staff of the State Committee for National Security of the Kyrgyz Republic.
In order to carry out this task, the State Committee for National Security officers left for the village of Koi-Tash, where Atambayev's house is located, but the latter's supporters resisted the authorities with the use of weapons and other items.
In addition, mass riots involving the use of violence were organized in order to obstruct the investigation.
This fact was registered on Aug.7, 2019 in the Unified Register of Violations on the grounds of crimes under Articles 264 (mass riots) and 266 (hooliganism) of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic.
As a result of clashes, 47 persons with various injuries were hospitalized in Chui and Bishkek territorial hospitals, 22 of them are employees of the State Committee for National Security of Kyrgyzstan, 2 are employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the remaining 23 are civilians, 1 employee of the State Committee for National Security died from a gunshot wound.
The collected materials are also registered in the Unified Register of Violations on the grounds of Articles 130 (murder), 39-130 (attempted murder) and 355 (threat or violence against a representative of the authorities) of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic.
In addition, on Aug.8 2019, following the kidnapping of the State Committee officers by Almazbek Atambayev's supporters, the material was registered in the Unified Register of Violations on the grounds of Article 244 (hostage-taking) of the Criminal Code of Kyrgyzstan.
Presently, pre-trial proceedings have been initiated in respect of the abovementioned facts.
