Ex-Minister of Defense of Kazakhstan sacked from Arms Forces due to Arys incident

AKIPRESS.COM - Former Minister of Defense of Kazakhstan Saken Zhasuzakov was released from the system of the Armes Forces of Kazakhstan due to the explosions in military warehouses in the city of Arys, Akorda press service reported. The decree was signed by President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev for improper execution of his duties and serious shortcomings in the work on providing security and safety of weapons, implementation of the program on redeployment and arrangement of ammunition warehousing facilities, which led to explosion of ammunition in the military unit of Arys and a large scale damage of the city.
Ammunition blast in the military warehouses of Arys occurred on June 24 killing 4 people and injuring more than 160 people. The city with the population of 45,000 people was evacuated.
