AKIPRESS.COM - Over 40 trespassers were detained in Bishkek over the last night, Bishkek police said on August 9.
On that night, a crowd of young people gathered in Ala-Too square, but by midnight, the crowd was dispersed by policemen using riot control weapons.
The Bishkek police said over 1,500 aggressive people wearing masks and holding sticks tried to escalate tensions in the city and break into the parliament's building, malls and stores.
"The unknown persons blocked the roads, disturbed civilians sparking panic and fears, attacked journalists covering the events," the statement said.
Riot control weapons were used to prevent riots, mass disorders, looting and hooliganism by aggressive crowd, the statement said.
Manhunt for organizers who tried to to destabilize the situation in Bishkek is under way. Order is maintained by police.
