SDPK demands to stop political persecution of its members

AKIPRESS.COM - The Social Democratic Party of Kyrgyzstan has made statement concerning the events around Almazbek Atambayev. "We demand from the authorities of Kyrgyzstan to stop political persecutions of SDPK members and representatives of the people's headquarters, to provide medical assistance to all injured, to find those guilty of the murder of the special task force officer. We do ask law enforcement agencies to find those responsible for unrest in the capital city and nearby villages and hold them accountable," the statement reads.
The SDPK has demanded to adhere to established procedures with regard to detained Almbazbek Atambayev according to the law.
"We still believe Almazbek Atambayev has immunity from prosecution and hence his detention is unlawful," the party said and demanded to stop pressure on freedom of expression and to resume broadcasting of April TV channel, which went off the air.
